Yeah, periodically and every time I visit him, he found something new from me. At one time I told him, have you noticed my b......t, I just got injection on it. He was amazed and told me why are you such a pain on the b....t. I told him because I hate coming to your office and you are telling me crap...

It's my turn to return the favor. What it feels?

LOL! Wolf, dear, your medical provider, as your provider, is entitled to listen to you. Its his job. Heck, he already bills your insurance company alot. :)

GPs whine alot about how they are underpaid.

Darling, every patient the see, they charge them $300 per person. So these GPs that see about 50 patients a day.

50 X $300 = $15,000 a/day.
Subtract medicare' share; take 50% off.

So that leaves him with about $7,500 a day.
X that 22 days (lets not count weekends).

Thats about $165,000 a month.

Gross income (without overhead cost) is about $150k - $165k a month.

X that 12 months = $1.98 Million.

~~

End result: To listen to patients talk is not that bad when he earns (not considering overhead cost) about $2 million a year.

;D

Na, im poor in math. very poor. :P

Alot of GPs, you will see are equivalent to the 'nurses' in Medicine.

Nurses work crazy hours to make $$.

GPs not only have their base income from their practice, but many of them also 'moonlight' nursing homes and hospitals.

A nursing home pays a GP $60k to visit a nursing home  1-2 times a day. Normally GPs will visit 2-3 nursing homes a week.

So thats an extra $180,000 added to their base income (Base + 180K).

~~

GPs will actually profit from Obama's health care program.
Since Uncle Sam will pay the GP per every patient he sees.
Guaranteed income; and not worrying for medicaid to cover cost.

hahaha! it sucks for the specialists, but the GPs are guaranteed income (raises). Obama's health plan will focus interest on General Practice and less so on specialty care.

(You will see that the specialists will clamor for reform in later years; since their income level will decrease; with decrease income, decrease also in level of care given).

:)

Yeah, I understand that part.

That is what i am told by my peers and by the residents, and fellows. Spoonfed pood kami mga interns nila. Pero for me, i used to be against the reform, but i think, that we can see the bright side in this. At least ang coverage will cover the millions that are uninsured. (the bright side to this reform).

Unsaon man lagi. Originally against ko sa total reform, pero since it was the people's will to accept it, we can't do anything now but to comply with it. At least, ma smooth ang transition process and that the patient gets the care needed.

For me, payment is secondary. Patient care should always be first. Kining sweldo, it comes man later.

Ingon to si Dr. Barone (my pathology instructor): "Dont worry on the cash, because you'll have to suffer residency years as a slave first before you actually get paid anything. So enjoy the slave work, and most of all, have fun treating patients. Love em. You'll be doing this till you're dead."

LOL!

The guy cracked me up.

Me too, Keih. Let's say I was 'touched' by the works of Dr. Ting Tiongco.

The trait of a great doctor (as in Dr. Ting Tiongco) is to sacrifice not for self, but for others.

Look beyond self gain, but for those whom will benefit because you are...there.

Dr. Ting Tiongco is a product of one of the greatest medical schools in the world: University of the Philippines School of Medicine.

Father, as for me, whenever i visit my GP he usually tries to quiz me or asks me questions on clinical things.
hehehe! I once thought to myself, "jeez, when did you start being so instructive?" ha ha!
He's a good guy tho; he takes care of my entire family. Tho he did ask me if i wanted OMM (osteopathic muscular manipulation) done on me and I refused. :) He is a D.O (doctor of osteopathy) and always wants to show me different OMM techniques.

oh its true, how did i find out how did i find out, thats a secret from me to you! puahahaha!

My GP (who is a DO) always makes rhymes and what i find interesting about him is that he always has cherries in his desk.

He has a seductive/romantic aura about him that he uses with the ladies (his patients!)

puahahaha. You should see how the older ladies talk to him. "Oh Dooooooctorrrr...thank youuuuUuUuu!"

It is good to see a physician at least once a year, otherwise I would have not known a lump on my left breast.Self examination is not a 100% reliable. It was the most scariest time of my life the waiting of the result of the tests.' Did a lot of praying and a lot of support of family and friends.Thank the lord it was benign.

Thanks for sharing that Cujo. I think alot of patients out there are scared of doctors, are intimidated to see one, because of the psychological association between physicians and medical problems. We need to clear up this misconception. The physician and the nursing staff is there to assist, help, and treat the patient's condition. Going to see a doctor should not be hesitated for fear of 'bad news', but the mentality should be upheld that seeing a doctor is to 'get treated, see what is good and what can be done to maintain the state." he he.

There are many cases of patients who failed to visit a doctor and because of the hesitancy, was unable to diagnose or identify the benignancy. And because of the time interval, had become malignant. This is all too familiar.
