Are you superstitious?
« on: July 28, 2010, 11:25:34 AM »
John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

in a sense, yes.  i lose nothing if i believe in some things that cannot be explained by science.  as long as i don't let these things rule my life and i keep my faith on top, god's in his heaven and all's right with the world.

Instinctively. Usahay mas mauna ang superstition kaysa logical explanation.

like most women, strong akong intuition, bai bugs.  hasta akong banana republic makurat usahay kay kasagaran matinuod akong isulti, bisag komedya.  mora kog mag-una.  the nearest science that i can relate my intuitive strength to is in the field of metaphysics, of which the world has no known formal studies.  (except rumored research in facilities in russia and the u.s.)

but can we define what superstition really means here?  the term is too open to different interpretations.  non-catholic christians regard as superstitious the catholic practice of bestowing due reverence to images and icons.  atheists may believe that praying to any god is nothing but superstition.

meanwhile, why do some of us avoid walking under a ladder or think twice about proceeding when a black cat crosses our path?  we even say "tabi" as a matter of habit when we pass through strange and foreboding places.
