Transforming World Trade: The Panama CanalTransforming World Trade: The Panama Canal
"Transforming World Trade" is the third of four 60-second advertisements created for Citi by BBC Advertising and independent production company, Tern. These ads, filmed in documentary style, will be broadcast on BBC World News during the commercial breaks of the Citi-sponsored series, "One Day In..." which profiles a dozen of the world's greatest cities. They can be seen during the run of the series on BBC World News through mid November. This third ad is about the transformative role of the Panama Canal—the building of which Citi helped to fund—in world trade. It describes the impact of the Canal on world shipping and features an interview with the captain of a ship carrying bananas from Ecuador to Antwerp, whose passage through the Canal has cut the trip nearly in half and made fresh fruit available in London street markets.
