Yaman Gensan develop SMEs

General Santos City (28 June 2005) -- To boost income, Yaman Gensan 2005 has offered a number of seminars, conferences and techno demo, tailored fit to develop managerial and production skills among small and medium entrepreneurs here.
Yaman Gensan is an initiative of local SMEs, which is celebrated starting last week of June until the third week of July. YG is also referred to as the "business month" celebration aimed at bringing additional money in circulation; bolster sales thus making the economy vibrant during these lull months of the year.
Speaking during the launching of YG 2005 on Monday, Notre Dame Business Resource Center Foundation Inc. Head Bro. Bob McGovern underscored the potentials of equipping resident SMEs with the necessary know-how's and technology through this local initiative.
"Since 1980, we have been involved in business research and we come to the conclusion that focusing on little people (entrepreneurs) who we depend on, reduce social problems and allow people live a decent life," he said.
He referred to poverty, unemployment, inaccessibility to education, and deprivation of adequate health care services as the social problems that beset the largest sector of the society, which could be solved by helping the poor earn income.
McGovern also cited that Yaman Gensan prevents local entrepreneurs from "becoming compliant by exposing them to the latest technology in business, which contributes to survival in business."
"Activities that spur business acumen are very important because our studies also show that there is a tendency for some of businesses here to become compliant resulting in low returns-of-investments," he further said.
Compliance leads to product substandard quality, slower economic growth and fewer activities that ultimately result in business stagnation.
To avoid such compliant entrepreneurs, the Department of Trade and Industry has offered 27 seminars on business management and livelihood projects for SMEs during the YG.
"We are happy to announce that we now offer 27 seminars including livelihood projects for SMEs," Department of Trade and Industry Provincial Director Nenita Barroso, said.
Barroso said Yaman Gensan is supportive of President Arroyo's national SME agenda, which include the comprehensive and focused government support to enhance SME managerial and technological capability and improvement of SME financing.
According to Barroso, the YG 2003 and YG 2004 celebrations were successful because they respectively infused P4.8M and P14.6M in local circulation. (PIA-SarGen)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
