Use excess tax collection to fund schools: Oreta
CEBU CITY, Oct. 3, 2003 (PNA)- Since the budget of the Department of Education (DepEd) is not enough to address the needs of public schools, Sen. Tessie Aquino-Oreta wants the excess in tax collection to fund the shortage. Oreta said the national government needs at least P20 billion to solve the shortages in textbooks, classrooms, desks and armchairs in some 45,000 public schools across the country.
