Top business firms get milestone awards
      ZAMBOANGA CITY, Oct. 1 2002 (PNA) -- Twelve business establishments
here were conferred the Milestone in Entrepreneurship Award last

Saturday night at the La Vista del Mar beach resort during the
culmination

of the Zamboanga Business Month celebration dubbed as "Business
Achiever's Night."

      The Zamboanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation, Inc.
gave the awards as a form of recognition to those who had significant
contributions to the history, ascendancy and growth of Zamboanga
City.

       City Hall spokesman Jose Mari Bue said the awardees were:

-- Category 1 (Service Sector) - Basilan Lines Inc., Lantaka Hotel by
the

Sea, Palmeras Restaurant;

-- Category 2 (Wholesale and Retail Trade Sector) - Thong Guan
Commercial,

Golden Bell Commercial, Cecile's Pharmacy;

-- Category 3 (Manufacturing and Processing Sector) - Barrios
Heritage Fine

Furniture, Kingsland Hopia Factory, Universal Canning Corporation;
and

-- Category 4 (Export) - Zamboanga Fish Trading, Interco
Manufacturing

Corporation and San Luis Shell Industries.

      Tess Uy-Sebastian, president of the Zamboanga Chamber of
Commerce and Industry Foundation Inc., presented the awards together
with Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Director Ben Landingin.

     This was the second year the chamber held the awarding
ceremony.

     Also present during the awarding rites were Mayor Maria Clara
Lobregat,

Congressman Celso Lobregat, Zamboanga Freeport Chairman Jojo Yu and
other ranking officers in the local business community.  (PNA)
