San Fernando City, La Union (1 December 2005) -- The sterling performance of the Filipino athletes in the 23rd SEA Games and the continues performance of the peso against the dollar are
very welcome respite, after the serious political crisis and negative news about the country that pervaded since July.
The Filipino athletes who are mostly virtually unknown are continuously harvesting medals for the country amidst the cheerings of many Filipinos who go out of their way to watch the athletic events and lend their
moral support. Our athletes are determined to be the champion in the SEA Games and give honor to the Philippines, as they continue to project that they are epitome of resilience, discipline, excellence and sportsmanship.
On the other hand, the overseas Filipino contract workers (OFWs) who are the unsung heroes of the country continue to work hard abroad and pour in heavy dollar remittances which helped propped up the peso to its highest since March this year that catapulted the peso to be the best performing currency in Asia against the dollar.
Thanks to the Filipino contingents in the 23rd SEA Games and to the OFWs for giving positive outlook for the Philippines and making it consequential in the ASIA Map, reverting the gloom and doom scenario the enemies of the Arroyo administration has been painting. For as GMA's foes continue to employ all sorts of antics to topple her, they are in the
process destroying the whole nation. It feels good that for once in a long while, the Filipino is welcomed by a good news as he wakes up in the morning.
As we salute our athletes and OFWs, we also hope that our political leaders both in the opposition and administration will finally put a stop on their dirty political bickerings and instead direct their energies in giving honor, glory and fame to the Philippines emulating the SEA Game Filipino athletes and OFWs.
