DTI chief cites role of students in information dissemination
2010 Pagadian City – Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)Provincial Director Ma. Socorro Malate-Atay underscored the vital role of students in disseminating information worldwide.
At the Provincial Consumers Forum held at Hotel Camila , Atay said, she invited several students in the forum to help inform the public on the basic rights and welfare of the consumers using recent technology, the internet.
“Students are catalysts of information dissemination and networking, in addition with the media," Atay declared. “With your skills in internet surfing, I’m confident that you will spread the information that you’ve learned in today’s forum to your classmates, teachers, friends and relatives,” Atay added.
“You are very powerful medium when it comes to communicating people on consumerism,” Atay stressed
The DTI chief, also said she was impressed of their skills in multiplying information on the web particularly in the social networking site – the Facebook, etc. “You as a group is something to reckon with,” she added.
More than 100 college students from St. Columban and Southern Mindanao Colleges along with their respective advisers attended the one day forum. They are joined also by the representatives of ConsumerNet member agencies.
Among those who attended the forum were Department of Environment and Natural Resources
(DENR)Regional Technical Director Dr. Dante Oporto, Department of Energy Science (DOE) Reserch Specialist Engr. Pedrito Aparicio,and National Telecommunications Commission Admin Officer Erle Galo.(PIA9-ZamboSur/CAL)
