Leyte validates tourism attractions
Tacloban City (29 July 2005) -- Governor Carlos Jericho L. Petilla directed the Provincial Tourism and Investment Promotions Center to assess and evaluate the viability of tourism attractions as a prerequisite in the formulation of tour packages for local and international marketing and promotions.
The governor believes that it is very important to assess the destination first before it is included in a tour package to avoid disappointments and mix-ups. The validation will also include the readiness of the place and community preparedness in accepting the visitors.
In line with the directive, an interagency team has been formed to validate tourist destinations in the Province starting August two. The team is composed of representatives from various government agencies, tour operators and the private sector.
For the August 2 trip, the team will visit the Tabuk Marine Park and Bird Sanctuary in Palompon, the Cuatro Islas in Inopacan and the Seven Island Destination in Tabango, all in Leyte.
The local government units headed by the local chief executive are expected to welcome the team which will have an overnight stay in Inopacan and another overnight stay in Tabango.
Presently, the center is also in the process of coming up with the second and third editions of the Leyte Philippines Travel Guide, a tourist handbook of the province's tourism potentials. (PIA-8)
