Biliranons express full upport to PGMA presidency

Naval, Biliran (4 July 2005) -- Unlike the rallies held by members of the militant groups and some supporters of the opposition in the business district of Makati and other parts of Metro Manila, a multi-sectoral rally was conducted here in the province of Biliran by Biliranons from all walks of life as a show of full support to the leadership of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (PGMA).

The action of the Biliranons was in consonance to the pronouncement of Secretary Ignacio Bunye appealing to all Filipinos to work within the framework of the constitution and laws in order to truly achieve a stable government that rest upon the rule of law.

Likewise, former president Corazon C. Aquino believes that the Constitution contains all the way by which one may safely effect even the most difficult political changes and that to step outside the Constitution will only expose the country to greater danger than the injustices we want to correct.

In a consultative meeting initiated by Biliran Governor Rogelio J. Espina in coordination with Congressman Gerry Boy Espina, Jr., Representative of the Lone District of Biliran, all provincial, municipal and barangays elected officials, women's group, senior citizen's association, various non-government organizations and different people's organizations in the province of Biliran passed and approved a resolution expressing steadfast support to the Arroyo administration.

The resolutions coming from the local elected officials and the different socio-civic organizations in the province of Biliran was personally handed to Congressman Juan Miguel "Mickey" Arroyo, presidential son and representative of a district in Pampanga, in his visit to the province for the premiere night of his movie titled "Sablay Ka Na, Pasaway Ka Pa" where he is the lead actor.

Congressman Gerry Boy Espina who is a close friend of Congressman Mickey Arroyo is also a cast of the movie in an introduction rule.

The expression of full support of the Biliranons to the GMA presidency is in connection to the controversial issues hounding the Arroyo administration that subtly affect the smooth governance and strong leadership of the country.

Meanwhile, Governor Espina being the father of the province appeals to Biliranons to support the duly recognized leadership and cautioned not to make any drastic actions that would tend to undermine the progress and development of the country.

Congressman Gerry Boy Espina on the other hand, calls for sobriety among the people in the province of Biliran with the situation experienced by the present administration and further emphasized to the public to follow what is provided in the constitution in order to avoid chaos in the country.

For his part, Naval Mayor Gerardo S. Espina, Sr., reminded Biliranons of the good things provided by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo as manifested by the various infrastructure projects, livelihood programs and financial support given to the province of Biliran that greatly helped in its progress and development.

With the provisions of these manufacture projects, livelihood programs and financial support by the Arroyo administration, Mayor Espina heartily appeals to the Biliranon to rally behind the present administration as our gratitude to the good things given to the Biliranons and for the sake of stability, progress and development of the country.

During said consultative meeting held at Marvin's Place in Brgy. Atipolo this town, the province of Biliran thru Governor Rogelio Espina handed to Congressman Mickey Arroyo a resolution conferring him as an adopted son of Biliran province. (PIA-8)
