Pangasinan peaceful during All Saints Day, says police
By Danny O Sagun
Dagupan City (02 November 2010) –After earlier enjoying a family reunion during the barangay and sangguniang kabataan elections, Pangasinenses enjoyed another holiday on Monday as they remembered their dead loved ones which according to the Pangasinan provincial police office was generally peaceful.

It was observed that uniformed policemen were strategically stationed in busy road intersections, entrance of cemeteries and other public places while others patrolled the premises.

Pangasinan police provincial director Sr. Supt. Rosueto Ricaforte assigned a supervisor for police stations in every congressional district to ensure that his directives at making the All Saints’ Day celebration peaceful and orderly are strictly followed.

Deputy provincial director for operations Supt. Harris Fama said that the campaign against carrying deadly weapons and liquor ban was strictly implemented.

The Lingayen police confiscated one bladed weapon and a bottle of wine, while the Mangaldan police got eight bladed weapons including three pieces of screw driver and 40 pieces of firecrackers. Twelve bottles of wine were confiscated by the Urdaneta City police, while three bladed weapons yielded in Tayug. Two items of horn (wangwang) were confiscated from Villasis.

Except for an intoxicated man who was caught creating trouble in Lingayen, there was no election-related violence during the celebration, Fama added. (PIA Pangasinan)
