KIDAPAWAN CITY (2 July 2005) -- The Mindanao Land Foundation Inc., a social development institution responding to the complex development problems of poor communities in Mindanao organizes the 2nd NGO Forum on July 17-20, 2005 at the Marco Polo Hotel, Davao City with the theme "Scaling Up People Initiatives in Post Conflict Communities."
Expected forum participants are heads of organizations who have assisted or presently assisting communities on the ground that have demonstrated good practices in governance, community credit fund, agri-livelihood, water system projects, and the like. Among the 30 expected participants, five will stage a 15-minute presentation championing community initiatives.
Guest speaker Dr. Abas Candao, the BOD Chairman of the Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) shall discuss updates on the peace process and the role of the BDA in supporting and reaching out communities in conflict-affected areas.
While the forum held last year was able to look at diverse frameworks for development being implemented in various parts of Mindanao and has allowed the participants to explore complementation possibilities between and among Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in the development framework, this forum will be a venue for sharing the gains that have been reaped by communities and their partner CSOs in the application of its development framework and also to learn from each other their plans for scaling up community initiatives.
