RP poised to be Asia's ICT outsourcing hub
Quezon City (2 July 2005) -- The government is bent in making the Philippines an information and communications technology (ICT) outsourcing destination of choice. President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo said that the cyber services corridor concept is gaining ground from Baguio to Zamboanga. The President even projected that more than a hundred thousand jobs will be generated by the booming ICT outsourcing industry this year.
The Philippine ICT infrastructure is world-class in every way, from quality, to cost and availability.
Cebu, in particular, has economic zones that speak well of its strategic location as a selling point to ICT investors.
President Arroyo likewise expects Filipino software developers alone to increase from 30,000 to 100,000 in 2010. But according to Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, the government and the private sector should continue working together to streamline investment procedures and increase the country's attractiveness as a destination for all types of value-added investments.
