DIGOS, Davao del Sur (1 December 2005) -- The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) will turn over this December 1, 2005, a 4.2-kilometer farm-to-market road
network to farmer-beneficiaries of Barangays Blocon and Malawanit, Municipality of Magsaysay, in this province.
Provincial Agrarian Reform officer Abundio Baliong said that a road opening with a length of 1.2 kilometers located in Barangay Blocon, and a three kilometers road rehabilitation project in Barangay Malawanit will be turned over to 100 families of these barangays.
Baliong said that agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in these Barangays would enjoy greater economic opportunities, now that they can transport and sell their
harvest straight to the market following the completion of this farm to market road.
He said that the project has a total cost of only one million pesos since the construction was undertaken by the Matanao, Bansalan and Magsaysay (MABAMA) infrastructure committee with the support of the Local Government Units (LGU), operating under the "Bayanihan Concept."
According to Baliong; the LGUs as member of the said committee aided the MABAMA by extending their heavy equipment for
free, with only fuel, labor, wages and repair of equipment was its main responsibility.
"This was the reason why this infrastructure project was completed on time and at the least cost," said Baliong.
He said that the road opening and rehabilitation of this farm-to-market road is the brainchild of Mayor Arthur Davin of Magsaysay town. This is the fulfillment of his long dreams that turned into
reality.
Expected to grace the turn over rites is Davao del Sur, District 1 Representative Douglas Ra. Cagas, a known supporter of the Government's Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP). (PIO-DAR Dvo.Sur)
