Mayor Domogan wants amicable settlement on Asin Hydro Power Plants issueBAGUIO CITY, June 1 (PNA) -– Re-elected Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan wished to settle the issue on the Asin Mini-hydroelectric Power Plants outside the courts but will have no other alternative if the amicable settlement approach, fails.
Domogan opined that if the issue goes to court, officials of Baguio City; Tuba, Benguet and the affected resident will be the losers.
Domogan on Wednesday, June 1, said his office will continue to encourage Tuba officials and affected landowners to sit down with the Baguio City officials in a meeting and work to achieve a “win-win solution†to the issues involving the mini hydroelectric power plants.
The city will continue to work out a settlement of the rental issue with the affected residents.
Domogan said the civil damages filed against the resident–members of the Tadiangan-Nangalisan Hydro Ancestral Landowners Association (TNHALA) for allegedly diverting water supply disrupting the operation of the plants years ago just to facilitate the payment of the rental fees, may be reconsidered by the Baguio City Council.
The TNHALA members were among those included in the compromise agreement forged in 2010 for the compensation of the residents whose lands are affected by the pipelines and plant facilities.
The mayor also urged the city council to confirm the terms of reference to allow the winning developer Kaltimex Energy Philippines to start the project.
The Municipality of Tuba will benefit from the activation of the flume lines of the city-owned facilities and the payment of the rental fees to residents whose lands are traversed by the pipelines and plant facilities, Domogan said. (PNA)
