Tacloban City (1 December 2005) -- Director Jim N. Rebustillo of the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Region 8 announced the holding of a
Review and _Evaluation Conference on LGU Performance in KALAHI CIDSS: KKB Implementation on December 2, 2005 at 8:30 in the morning at the La Rica Hotel in Tacloban City.
According to Director Rebustillo, the activity aims to present the Local government performance and support in KALAHI CIDSS implementation as stipulated in the memorandum of agreement. The activity also will endeavor to strengthen and improve the
partnership and coordination between the local government units and the Department of Social Welfare and Development with regards to KALAHI CIDSS, Director Rebustillo added. Director Rebustillo revealed that the agency invited several government entities and non government organizations to attend the conference. This, he said, will ensure the
success of the review and evaluation activity in the various KALAHI CIDSS municipalities. Furthermore, those invited will hopefully make the necessary recommendations to improve the partnership and coordination among LGUs, DSWD, NGAs and NGOs. KALAHI CIDSS is a poverty alleviation program of the Arroyo administration which inculcates in the poverty stricken municipalities the value of community cooperation in the formulation of solution to their common problems. This also empowers the poor to be able to decide what is best for themselves especially in terms of improving their standard of living and way of life. Many of the local government units implementing the KALAHI CIDSS program are found in the far-flung areas of Samar.
