Leyte leaders pledge support to Arroyo administrationTacloban City (23 June 2005) -- The following personages have expressed their unequivocal support to the GMA administration in an interview conducted by the Philippine Information Agency:
Hon. Trinidad G Apostol (Representative, 2nd District of Leyte): The attempt to overthrow the government will not gain any support from the members of the congress. These are all hearsay; there is no solid evidence to really say that the President is guilty to any of these allegations.
Gen. Dionisio B. Coloma (PNP Regional Director): I was the very first one to call the President to pledge my support to her. She will survive all these problems which are nothing but a political circus.
Gen. Jovito Palparan (AFP Commanding General): The entire officials and members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines stand solidly behind Pres. Arroyo. She is still our commander-in-chief and we take orders from her. We are not affected by all these talks against the government. We are busy with all our own activity and we are still on top of the situation. There is no need to conduct any loyalty check among the officials of the 8th Infantry Division.
Mr. Roger Lo (President, Leyte Chamber of Commerce and Industry): We have signified continuous support to the Arroyo administration.
Dr. Leo Blanco (Reg'l Chairman, Phil. Chamber of Commerce and Industry): We issued a call to sobriety for economic stability and for the best interest of the country.
Mr. Eugene Tan (President, Candahug Liberation Jaycees and Pintados Foundation): We are always behind the leadership of her excellency Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
Mr. Henry Yaokasin (President, Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce): We will always support the Arroyo administration.
Mr. Efren Redoña (President, Vice-Mayors' League): We will strongly support the GMA administration especially her 10-point agenda.
