DENR-Caraga spearheads Arbor Day tree planting
by Robert E. Roperos

BUTUAN CITY (24 June 2005) -- "Increasing the number of trees means increasing our forest cover and by doing so, we enhance our environment to be a better place to live in. Let's all plant trees. Join us!", Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Caraga Regional Executive Director Benjamin Tumaliuan urged as he invited stakeholders in the private and public sectors to the launching of Kinamlutan Agroforestry and Eco-tourism Project (KAEP) at Sitio Dumayokdok, Brgy. Kinamlutan, this city tomorrow, Saturday, June 25.

The activity is in line with the celebration of the National Arbor Day, an annual national celebration done every 25th day of June to give importance to the roles of trees in our environment and economy. The activity is aimed to enhance President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's efforts to improve the life of farmers and provide them opportunities to increase their income through environment-friendly activities.

The launching will be highlighted with a tree planting activity at 6:00 a.m. along the proposed eco-tourism site/trekking area of KAEP, overlooking the city. A short program and rapelling adventure will immediately follow. Further, a trade fair featuring products of Brgy. Kinamlutan will also be on sale through the efforts of People's Organization of Kinamlutan Multi-Purpose Cooperative.

Aside from RED Tumaliuan, Butuan City Mayor Democrito Plaza II will also deliver a message and take part in the early morning activities. Certificates of recognition will be presented to sponsors of the undertaking. (PIA AMO-Caraga)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
