PopCom to celebrate World Population Day
by Patrick John G. Reyes
Butuan City (27 June 2005) -- In its effort to advocate gender equality among individuals, the Commission on Population (PopCom) Caraga is set to celebrate World Population Day on July 11 with the theme "Equality Empowers." This theme is in line with Pres. Arroyo's
efforts to empower people to make wise choices and improve their lives while at the same time making them active partners of government in nation-building.
This year's theme is centered on equality among men and women; equality in terms of education for both boys and girls; and economic opportunities available for women. Moreover, it also underscores equality empowering women to participate in politics and decision-making process.
Widening its scope, PopCOm will also broadcast its radio program focused on the celebration of World Population Day in a local radio program. (PIA)
