Commentary: Reducing the burden of public school teachers
Tacloban City (November 1, 2007) -- President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's issuance of Administrative Order No. 204 will surely warm the hearts and lessen the burden of the public school teachers.

President Arroyo, in an effort to minimize the load of the public school teachers in the performance of their duties, has authorized the increase in their cash allowances for the purchase of chalks, erasers, forms, and other classroom supplies and materials from P300 to P500 each per annum.

This is indeed a big help to the teachers who often times have to spend not only for the chalks, erasers and school forms but also for the visual aids which are posted in their respective classrooms.

President Arroyo, under Administrative Order No. 204 which she signed last Oct. 19, ordered the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) to charge the funding support necessary to implement the order against the available savings of the national government.

The public school teachers will be pleased to know that the Administrative Order will take effect immediately, which shows that the President means business and is really sincere in relieving some of the burdens of the public school teachers in order to make them more effective in their task of mentoring the youth of the land.

As the President stated in the AO, "I hereby order an increase in said cash allowance to lessen the teachers' burden during actual teaching and enable them to better stir classroom interaction."

It is the enunciated policy of the State to provide quality basic education in public schools and support the needs of the teachers by providing the environment for them to effectively undertake their functions in the classroom.

The President's move underscores more than ever the important role that teachers play not only in molding the youth of the land to become productive and model citizens of the country but in seeing to it that the country's political exercises are properly implemented and the citizens' right of suffrage are safeguarded, even to the extent of putting their lives in danger. John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
