Housing project benefits soldiers, families

Quezon City (2 July 2005) -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines recently turned over a total of two hundred forty newly-constructed condomunium units to soldier beneficiaries at a rites held in Bonifacio Heights in Makati City. Vice President and HUDCC Chair Noli de Castro led the ceremonires.

AFP Chief of Staff General Efren Abu said that the housing units are part of the AFP's housing project, in cooperation with the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council.

Incidentally, a housing project also took off in Philippine Army's Camp Servillano Aquino in Tarlac City. The one hundred low-cost housing units for soldiers and their families are under a fifty-fifty cost-sharing scheme between the Department of National Defense and the Gawad Kalinga, a non-government organization involved in socialized housing.

The Bonifacio Heights and Camp Aquino projects are among the seven on-base housing sites approved by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo for the AFP personnel. Other sites include Cagayan de Oro City, Camp Riego de Dios in Cavite, Camp Tinio in Cabanatuan City, and Fort del Pilar in Baguio City.

The DENR, HUDCC and the AFP are likewise evaluating ten other areas in the country for possible sites of the AFP mass housing projects in a bid to boost the confidence of our soldiers, knowing that their families are decently sheltered while they are out in the fields, defending the nation's security against hostilities created by terrorist groups. John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
