MANILA - The appointment of Gen. Lisandro Abadia as national security adviser was recalled yesterday afternoon by Pres. Arroyo.
The President said she has decided to recall the appointment of Lisandro Abadia as a national security adviser. Abadia’s appointment has been under heavy criticism due to alleged misused of soldier’s retirement funds. He also ordered the interior department to investigate allegations of corruptions against PNP Chief Leandro Mendoza and will submit a report within seven days.
The President was supposed to announced yesterday the vice president. However, she did not mention it in her first nationwide television address last night.
Abadia, in the meantime, went to the Senate to inform senators that the office of the Ombudsman has cleared him of the charges regarding the fund controversy.
The Senate blue ribbon committee, chaired by Senate Pres. Aquilino Pimentel Jr, had implicated Abadia in the anomaly. Abadia said that his name is being smeared by people with political motivation.
