It was a case of Cat Stevens' "Father and Son" going out too far.
An argument between a 39-year-old father and his 10-year-old son in Barangay Virgen, Anda became a case of life imitating art - with bloody consequences.
The unfortunate incident happened about 11 midnight in the third district town last Oct. 11.
Records reaching Camp Dagohoy identified the suspect as one Arsenio Olayon, a resident of Virgen, Anda.
Stevens' hit song details the communication gap between father and son, a song so relevant it remains popular more than three decades since the folk icon dropped out of sight from the entertainment field.
In the Anda episode however, the argument must have turned from bad to worse - enough for the father to lose his head altogether.
No doubt aided by the alcohol that clouded his sense of judgment, the suspect could no longer control his anger during the exchange.
In a fit of rage, Olayon took hold of an ice pick and repeatedly stabbed his 10-year-old son.
The boy sustained at least five stab wounds on different parts of his body arising from the physical assault.
He was immediately rushed to the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital (CGMH) in Tagbilaran for treatment to his injuries.
The report did not mention who was responsible for bringing the boy to safety in the city.
Olayon is presently detained at the Anda PNP jail pending the filing of appropriate charges against him.
