10. he was caught in a berlin internet cafe surfing for news about himself.

11.  the internet cafe owner recognized him and went out to talk to the first available policeman on the street.  the policeman who happened to be nearby was with 5 police trainees, one of whom couldn't believe that they were suddenly involved in the world's current biggest manhunt.

A torso was found inside a suitcase that was placed in a pile of garbage behind a residential building in Montreal.

A Conservative staffer at the party headquarters in Ottawa opened a blood-soaked package containing severed human foot.

Major crime detectives found a severed hand at a Canada Post sorting facility in Ottawa. It was destined for the Liberal Part headquarters.

Ottawa police confirmed the hand and the foot found in Ottawa were sent from the same location in Montreal. Police there took over the investigation.

Montreal police issued a Canada-wide warrant for Toronto-born porn star Luka Magnotta, suspected of mailing the foot and the hand to Ottawa. Cops said the hand, foot and torso were likely all related to the same homicide.

A graphic video surfaced on the Internet that appeared to depict the grisly murder. In it, a man kills, dismembers and cannibalizes his victim, who appears to be a naked Asian man. Other videos surfaced of Magnotta killing kittens.

The manhunt for Magnotta went international, with Interpol and the FBI joining the search after cops in Montreal announced he'd likely fled the country.



Police said Magnotta would face charges of second-degree murder and indignity to a human body if caught.

A close family member of Magnotta's in Peterborough, Ont., told QMI Agency the accused killer was a “unstable” and “a ticking time bomb.”

German prosecutors say a decision on Magnotta's extradition could be made within days.

A Berlin court orders Magnotta be held in pre-extradition custody as his likely return to Canada edges closer.

Berlin state court spokesman Tobias Kaehne says the court decided at the end of last week that there was enough evidence to keep Magnotta behind bars pending extradition.

"That means that he must now remain in custody until a possible extradition to Canada," he says.

Magnotta returns to Canada on a Royal Canadian Air Force plane, landing at Mirable Airport in the early evening. The federal government said Magnotta was removed from Berlin by Canadian military officials. Ottawa "worked closely" with Montreal police, the Quebec prosecution service and German officials in the extradition.
