This is no little sinkhole in someone's yard, this sinkhole has already swallowed up 24 acres of land. The video footage released of this sinkhole shows how it just sucked up trees, land and even water as it opens up. It looks like the bottom just fell out of the earth that this land was sitting on and it took only seconds for the sinkhole to claim its surroundings.
So far 350 residents of Bayou Corne have been evacuated for fear their homes may be in danger. Authorities are monitoring the sinkhole and updating alert statuses related to seismic activity within the sinkhole and for the surrounding area.
