The summer I graduated from Allegheny College, I decided to take a class in the summer prior to starting Medicine Proper.
haha, i have always been the hard-worker type; and decided to take a Sociology class at Rutgers University in Camden, New Jersey--just for fun.
The class introduced me to social analysis in the macroscopic viewpoint, as compared to my background in taking minor elective classes in Psychology in college. The foundations of sociology was : Fun. I enjoyed interacting with other students, most of whom were graduate students or law students taking a sociology class as prerequisites (The Sociology class i took was a graduate level socio class).
The class was easy, in my personal point of view. Exams were quite generous: Half of the grade was based on 50 MC questions, the other half was based on essay questions and open ended questions.

I also took graduate internship course at the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine & Surgery in Cleveland , Ohio. This was part of my medical professional internship at the Cleveland Clinic which was co-sponsored and hosted by OCPM (Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine).
The internship introduced me to TMA techniques (total metatarsal amputation) , as well as surgical techniques in regards to diabetic foot care, and orthoscopic surgical techniques--which was done in the Cleveland Clinic's Surgical Stadium. The course also introduced us to different kinds of anesthetics used in surgery; and a brief introductory lesson on Medical Pharmacology by the attending Anesthesiologist and the Podiatric Surgeon(s) on the floor.
After which, I started medicine proper. It really did help in preparing me for medical school; additionally, the grad. sociology course was more fun than it was strenuous in regards to study. It allowed me to network with law students, graduate social services students as well as some nursing students whom i keep in contact with to this day.
