Shawarma in Middle East to me is just like Burrito or better yet Taco in Mexican.  Nagka diperensya lang sila sa manner how the filling is cooked, where the name shawarma comes from - from slowly turning the meat until deemed right to be shaved and used as filling.  Naa pod lahi ang spices ilang gamit.  Sa Shawarma gagamit na pod ug flat grilled bread or pita bread which is in essence is just the same as tortilla. Actually, instead of using grilled flat bread of pita bread, pwede man pod gamiton ang baguette which I also tasted.  Also, while Mexicans use Mayo and or beans, guacamole, etc. in their Burrito or Taco, in Shawarma they use hummus which is very typical jud sa Mediterranean cusine. Pero ga serve gihapon sila ug Shawarma with garlic mayonnaise. And both cuisines, ginabutangan gihapon ug salad nila like lettuce, cucumber, etc.

Ang naka lahi pud sa taco kay they use tomatoes man sa meat. While ang shawarma is purely meat lang gyud added with vegges.

Haze, pwede man walay tomatoes.  Ang sagaran na tacos dre sa mga Mexicans restos kay grilled chicken or any other kind of meat - even fish and shrimps.  So yes, naay kalainan but basically pareho ra sila.  Ang nakalahi lang jud sa shawarma ang manner sa pag cook sa filling busa diha na derived ang iyang pangalan.

I actually am not big on those food but just like you, Haze, mokaon pod ko.  Kana man gud Shawarma, super cook na sya pero kay slow cooked man gud so di pinkish pa jud ang meat mao na akong gikatalawan sahay.  But ay ka, gisundog na pod na nila sa Philadelphia sandwich or what they call Philly Sandwich.  Sa side lang ang mga salad etc unya plain and simple lang tapos baguette or hotdog bread dayon ang kanang filling then gina dip sa steaming broth.  Di man ko ganahan ug soggy na ang bread oi!

Wala pa ko kapalit sukad ug nokus na buwad but I think it was about 3 to 4 dollars a small pack.  Buhong man ko karon ug buwad kay  one of our dearest friends here in Tubag Bohol sent me a truckload of buwad: nokus big and small, danggit - big and small too, dayon pinikas na buwad isda.  I had the bigger buwad na danggit lastnight but the past two days, I had buwad na nokus.  Life can be so yummy! ;D

Ever tried barbecued Lamb kebab?

I had that almost everyday when I was studying in Ukraine in Summer 2006.
There is a village in the province of Crimea called Sovatlespol that makes great Tatar-style lamb kebab.

The way the Tatars ate it was lying down on the side and with their hands.

It was one of the best dishes I ever had.

Dong, I prefer the Shish Kebab preferably chicken but I tried mutton too.  There's this Persian restaurant here known for its kebab (called The Famous Kabab), my goodness, their chicken kebab is so good and they have this rice with currants na so yummy!

The prepared a plate filled with basil, black pepper, spices and filled with olive oil.
They served us freshly cooked peppered wheat bread, cooked in their bricked ovens.
We ate inside large tents and sat on tatar rugs.
The lab kebabs suited our view of the Crimean coast.

Pero they say the best kebabs are found either in Greece or Turkey kono. Gusto ko mo try adto someday.

OMG, it is the best! At first i was hesitant on drinking it, but I did try it and its so good. Its not deathly sweet, but you it does have a natural sweetness to it, the consistency of lamb milk is very thick, it naturally has a aromatic smell to it.

Its perfect whenever eating spicy dishes, lol.

No wonder why Ukrainians and Russians are so darn tall and big boned. They drink this kind of milk. lol

I do like chicken curry, Dong!  I like to use curry powder.  I have this simple chicken recipe that uses flattened chicken breast marinated with lots of garlic and curry powder and lemon juice with the zest.  Just warm a little olive oil in the skillet, pan fry the marinated chicken without putting the marinade.  Once brown on both sides, add the marinade, stir until cooked and add salt and pepper to taste.   eat with chapati or just rice and that's good!

chicken curry made by indian and pakistani,they are using fresh yougurt unlike thai and malaysian or any south east country they are using coconut milk..
