It took 32 people to conduct the Bill Gates operation. [Noël Godin's] followers take care to look as ridiculous as possible as they throw their tarts, smiling broadly, spouting anti-pretentious poetry and repeating "gloup, gloup, gloup."

The Entarteur

Noël Godin (born 13 September 1945) is a Belgian writer, critic, actor and notorious cream pie flinger or entarteur.  Godin gained global attention in 1998 when his group ambushed Microsoft CEO Bill Gates in Brussels, pelting the software magnate with cream pies. After bombarding Gates, Godin allegedly said, "My work is done here."

Ideals

Godin claims his goal has long been to "entarte" as many people like Gates as possible - people he feels are particularly self-important and lacking a sense of humor.  Godin told The New York Times he chooses "to function in the service of the capitalist status quo, without really using his intelligence or his imagination."  He says his sworn enemies are "authority, depressing laws, the return of the moral order, nuclear power, any form of political power."

Since 1969, when Godin planted a cream pie on the face of the French novelist Marguerite Duras, he has cream-pied dozens more, including choreographer Maurice Béjart, France's best-known television anchorman Patrick Poivre d'Arvor, French president Nicolas Sarkozy and film maker Jean-Luc Godard.

A regular target is French philosopher, socialite and writer Bernard-Henri Lévy. After one attack, in 1985, an enraged Levy was filmed standing over Godin snarling "Get up, or I'll kick your head in".

Godin, who uses the pseudonym "Georges Le Gloupier" has also inspired an unknown number of followers around the world, who now regularly provide him with details about the whereabouts of various important potential targets.

Philosophy

Godin insists his group is non-violent and is careful to use only what he calls a "tarte classique", filled with whipped cream and perhaps a little chocolate in soft sponge cake. He says his humor can be traced back through Jerry Lewis, Wile E. Coyote, the Marx Brothers and yippies like Abbie Hoffman.[citation needed]

Godin is inspired (for instance in his Anthologie de la subversion carabinée (1989)) by the works of the Utopian philosophers Tommaso Campanella (Civitas Solis) and Charles Fourier (La Phalange, Le Phalanstère). His ideal society is one where there is no struggle for power or money and where everybody can live in a state of perfect happiness.[citation needed] He is also an admirer of the anarchist Ravachol without approving his violence, sentiment which inspired him to his pie-attacks.

Godin has a particularly colorful and expressive way of expressing himself, using terms like for instance "tempêtes patissières" (pastry storm) to describe his pieing.

Biotic Baking Brigade

The Biotic Baking Brigade is a loosely connected group of activists famous for throwing pies in the faces of such figures as Bill Gates, San Francisco mayors Willie Brown, and Gavin Newsom, anti-gay preacher Fred Phelps, economist Milton Friedman, Swedish King Carl Gustaf, former Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chrétien, conservative journalist William F. Buckley, former WTO head Renato Ruggiero, and Ann Coulter, among others.

The group espouses a left-wing philosophy, with members also active in ecology, social justice, gay rights, animal rights, and feminist movements, with connections to groups like Earth First!, Food Not Bombs, and ACT UP. It opposes corporate neoliberalism as well as any institution or individual who commits "crimes against people and the land."

Concerning the group, popular activist Jim Hightower has stated "The BBB's pies are the Boston Tea Party of our modern day, sending a serious message softly to the corporate oligarchy." Jello Biafra has similarly asked, "Is well placed humor one of the best protest tactics there is? The proof is in the pudding! Or should I say – pie cream.

Members have been tried for battery and assault as a result of their pieing. --Wiki

Swedish king in tart attack
Thursday, 6 September, 2001, 16:53 GMT 17:53 UK

King Carl Gustaf was 'surprised' by the attack

Questions are being raised in Sweden about security arrangements for the royal family after King Carl XVI Gustaf was hit in the face with a strawberry tart thrown by a 16-year-old Swedish boy.

The attack happened on Wednesday evening as the monarch was visiting a bird sanctuary near the city of Varberg, about 500 kilometres (300 miles) south-west of the capital, Stockholm.

The pastry struck the 55-year-old king full in the face, although he was not hurt.

Police arrested the teenager on suspicion of treason, according to Sweden's Radio Ekot.

A spokeswoman for the royal family, Catherine Broms, told the station it was the first time the king had suffered such an attack.

"We were on our way out from a wildlife preserve when the man threw the cake," Swedish news agency TT quoted her as saying.

The king "was surprised, but he wasn't hurt," she added. -- http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/1529270.stm

the weapons of mass distraction (wmd with a tasty difference)

The pie in question can include a variety of messy substances, usually whipped cream, custard, non-dairy dessert topping or simply shaving foam, placed in a pie tin or sometimes simply piled onto a paper plate.

One additional option is allowing the person who has purchased or won the opportunity to use the pie to also fill it, usually with a variety of extremely messy dessert toppings: chocolate, cherries, caramel sauce, strawberry sauce, etc.  Plastic bags for the victim to protect their clothing and hair are optional.  Witnesses standing too close to the victim(s) may be splattered.

CREAM PIE

A cream pie is a type of pie filled with a rich custard or pudding that is made from milk, cream, flour, and eggs.  It can come in many forms, including vanilla, lemon, lime, peanut butter, banana, coconut, and chocolate. A constant feature of all cream pies is the whipped cream topping.  The custard filling is related to the French crème patissière which is a key component of various French cakes and tarts.

CUSTARD PIE

A custard pie is any type of uncooked custard mixture added to an uncooked or partially cooked crust and baked together.  In North America, custard pie commonly refers to a plain mixture of milk, eggs, sugar, salt, vanilla extract and sometimes nutmeg combined with a pie crust.  It is distinctly different from a cream pie, which contains cooked custard poured into a cooled, precooked crust.  Some common custard pies include cheesecake, pumpkin pie, lemon meringue, and pecan pie.  True custard is defined as a liquid thickened with eggs.  Due to the often large number of whole eggs in custard pie it is a very rich pie.

Her husband shouts "Pray for them Anita, I want you to pray!"
and forces her to pray with fruit pie still running down her face.
