So true, Julius! Ang Ginoo mo hatag ug grasya sa tawo nga mo trabaho ug mo sakripisyo para sa ijang pamilya. Kining difficult times ug difficult obstacles, they are meant to be beaten and used as a lesson, not to keep us down.
If my grandfather was complacent he would have stayed in Pintuyan, Southern Leyte and lived a life of a fisherman and a coconut farmer, however, at age 8 years old, he boarded a banka and went to Cebu to make a life as a businessman, then finding a chance to go to Bohol (by God's Providence...) and raised 7 children with his wife.
He was born poor, came from a very poor and uneducated family (daghang pordoy sa southern leyte, luoy kaajo ang kinabuhi didto...), but he did not let his natural circumstance keep him down. By God's Grace and by God's guidance, he made a living, and raised his family to the best of his ability...
And that is a lesson for us all.
