Back when I was still based in Cagayan de Oro, I used to visit the Monastery of Transfiguration in Malaybalay. I remember dihay isa ka monk na dating b***t na designer ni Cory Aquino. He looked so decent though. Talking about being human beings, kay itribida man lagi ko, ako gi interview ang akong mga friend monks what was life like inside. One of the monks, Dom Joseph, told me so that they are just like any other human beings. They also have their disagreements bisan ug petty lang gani sahay. He cited as an example kanang mag bend sila when the chant the Glory be to the Father... Kong mag bend na daw ang mga monks in front of them, ang naa sa ilang nawong ang mga lubot sa mga monks kay lagi ang uban mo bend man jud ug ayo so they also talked about it kay annoying jud daw!
And then the other monk shared to me na naa daw isa sa mga monks na sige'g tanum ug gulay. And when he plants, di daw klase-klasehon. One time, ga tanum daw ug okra so they had okra for breakfast, okra for lunch and okra for dinner, day in and out. One time pod daw, kalabasa ra pod gitanom so anyway, one time daw, di na nila makaya sige'g balik-balik kaon same gulay, ilang gi kamang pagka gabii ug ilang gi ibot! Nag tuo daw ang monk tawon na gi binuangan sa mga kabataan.
Nangadji na lang daw sila nangayo'g pasaylo sa Ginoo! Ay ambot, basin gibinuangan ra pod ko adto nilang Dom Joseph!
