The first formal embalming and mortuary training school in the Asia Pacific is the Pacific Center for Advance Studies (PCAS) found at Nivel Hills, Barangay Lahug, Cebu City.
The training cost for an embalmer approximately ranges from P10,000 - P20,000 in private mortuary training schools and about P7,000 to P10,000 in public institutions.

GUIDELINES IN THE CONDUCT OF LICENSURE EXAMINATION FOR EMBALMERS:
1. Filing of application should be done at least two (2) weeks before the scheduled date of examination .
INCOMPLETE REQUIREMENT S WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
2. Theoretical Examination. The theoretical examination includes basic questions on Anatomy and Physiology;
Microbiology and Parasitology; Sanitation and Hygiene; and Ethics and Jurisprudence. The examination will
start at 8:30 a.m.; hence, all examinees are expected to be at the venue at least thirty (30) minutes before the
scheduled time. Examination permits will be collected by the Committee Secretariat. Those who do not have
examination permit will not be allowed to take the examination. Instruction will be given by the Committee of
Examiners for Undertakers and Embalmers before the start of the examination. The result of the theoretical
examination will be announced in the afternoon of the following day.
3. Oral/Practical Examination. Only those who passed the theoretical examination are qualified to take the
oral/practical examination. Schedule of the oral/practical examination will be announced after the
announcement of the result of theoretical examination. All are required to report on the given schedule. Failure
to do so will mean failure in the oral/practical examination. Examinees may request for a change in schedule
provided the Committee was informed in advance with valid reasons. The examinees will be informed of the
results immediately after the examination.
4. The Certificate of Registration and the official result of the theoretical and oral/ practical examinations will be
given one month after the examination day.
5. APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
a. Certified True Copy of Birth certificate;
(At least twenty one (21) years old but not more than sixty (60) years of age)
b. Certificate of good moral character from Barangay captain of the community where the
applicant resides;
c. Certification or Clearance from the National Bureau of Investigation or provincial fiscal that
he/she is not convicted by the court of any case involving moral turpitude;
d. Medical Certificate from a Government physician;
e. Certified true copy of Diploma or Transcript of record;
(At least High school graduate)
f. Submit Marriage Contract of female married applicant.
g. Certification from an association or trainer that he/she received basic instruction in
Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology & Parasitology, Sanitation and Hygiene, Ethics and
Jurisprudence and a certificate of Training the he/she has received instruction on the
above subjects from recognized school or college;
h. Certification from any registered embalmer that he/she has skillfully embalmed at least 10
cadaver within one year period under his/her supervision;
i. Filled application form (1 copy); and
j. 1 ½ x 1 ½ size photograph taken
within the last six month (3 copies)
