Script to impending drama in Congress.....
June 4, 2007 brought back the members of the 13th Congress to their lairs at the Batasan Hills in Quezon City.
At the same time, reelected members and newbies to the next Congress hovered all over to back slap and congratulate each other as well as jockey for choice office space assignments. The air is filled with anticipation on who will be catapulted to the post of the Speaker of the House and who will comprise and head each of the different committees.
But behind the scenes, is the unfolding of a script to be followed at the opening of the 14th Congress. The major parties have already laid out the plans. Compromises and agreements have been sealed.
Cong. Jose de Venecia, from Lakas- CMD would still assume the post as Speaker. This after a facade of a simulated fight to wrest control of the House leadership by the flourishing Kabalikat ng Mamayang Pilipino (Kampi) party. In its aftermath, the House lays down its verdict. Lakas-CMD is the majority party, owing to its sheer number of elected members and Kampi settles in as the minority. Now, what will this bring about? Neat! There is no anti-administration block in the House leadership.
