A "book smart" person is someone who does well in school, academics, or a field like science or history. A stereotypical "book smart" person is a nerd, or the "librarian stereotype."

A "street smart" person is usually someone who can manipulate others to get what they want. A "con artist" stereotype or someone with good social skills, charisma and political sense characterize someone who is "street smart."
