Fourteen-year-old Ellenrose Jorolan Perez is dedicated to bring gold medal for Philippines in the upcoming Olympic Games but something is holding her to reach this dream.
The Olympic medal hopeful in the weightlifting is looking for her mother here and in the province of Negros Occidental so she could have her consent to play in the international sports tourney. Perez is a minor and her parent’s consent is strictly required.
Coach Samuel Alegada of Bohol, who discovered Ellenrose, went here recently to ask for help in locating her mother Rosalie Huyoa Jorolan.
Alegada said the child and her mother were separated when the latter left for Negros Occidental living her child under his father’s custody in Bohol.
The only key in searching for Perez’s mother was her old picture, he said. The coach also lamented that he was made to believe that the athlete’s parents were married but it turned out that they were not.
To intensify the search, Alegada has sought the help of Monico Puentevella, a former Philippine Sports Commissioner, Philippine Olympic Committee Chairman and Weightlifting Association of the Philippines (WAP) President.
Alegada had known the capability of Ellenrose whom he trained in Bohol and later in Metro Manila. He said that Ellenrose could lift about 75 kilograms for snatch and lower than that for jerk.
Aside from Olympic, Ellenrose is also set to participate in upcoming Asian Weightlifting Championship to be held in Myanmar but this problem is troubling her.
Alegada appealed to anyone who knows where Rosalie is to contact him at Weightlifting Association of the Philippines Office in Manila and/or WAP President Monico Puentevella.
