After the Supreme Court ruled upholding a COMELEC en banc decision canceling the certificate of candidacy of sitting Albur Mayor Jose Ugdoracion for lack of the required residency, the town is now agog with the question: “Green Card out, Blue Card next?â€
The question refers to Ugdoracion being a United States Immigrant “green card†holder and to Vice mayor Cirilo Jalad claiming to be the mayor’s successor, who is linked to another controversy, the Blue Card health program, exposed to have defrauded the city government in over-bloated medical and hospitalization claims.
Jalad supporters claim he will be the successor of the soon-to-be-vacated mayor’s post.
But Albur resident say they deserve to be provided leaders with unquestionable integrity and away from public controversies.
Vice mayor Jalad is the chairman of the board of the Medical Mission Group Health Services Cooperative that admitted to have over-billed hospitalization and medical claims amounting to P112-million from patients charged to the city government Blue Card health program.
