UN chief condemns terrorist attack in Istanbul

UNITED NATIONS, Jan. 2 (PNA/Xinhua) -- UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Sunday condemned the "despicable terrorist attack" at a nightclub in Istanbul, Turkey.

According to a statement of the spokesman for the secretary-general, Guterres extended his deepest condolences to the families of the victims.

He also expressed his solidarity with the government and people of Turkey and of those countries whose nationals were impacted.

Guterres expressed the hope that the organizers and perpetrators of this "heinous act" would be identified and brought to justice swiftly, says the statement.

A gunman stormed into Reina nightclub early Sunday morning and shot at hundreds of people gathering there for New Year celebrations, leaving at least 39 killed and over 60 others injured.(PNA/Xinhua)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
