Japanese porn stars entertain Chinese rich

Japanese porn stars are now very popular in Asian countries. Wealthy Chinese seem the most fascinated. During the bubble economy in Japan from the late 1980s to the early 1990s, it was Japanese who were buying everything in the world, such as real estate properties, art masterpieces and brandname goods.

Now, the nouveau rich in China want it all and "all" includes Japanese porn stars. At the end of 2007, a popular Japanese porn star in her early 20s visited China to meet a rich Chinese guy called “Mr Lee.” She recalls her experience. “Everything I experienced there was gorgeous. I flew to China business class, and a Rolls-Royce picked me up at the airport. I was a bit nervous because I had never worked for Chinese before.”

“There are many Chinese who prefer Japanese porn, and are willing to pay as much as necessary to buy Japanese porn stars. As far as I know, there are at least five brokers in China who act as a go-between for their clients and Japanese porn stars,” said a Japanese porn industry insider.

The massive distribution of Japanese porn illegally copied in China seems to be creating a fantasy about Japanese women among some Chinese men. It’s now taken for granted among them that Japanese women are great at sex.

A Chinese guy in his 40s explains his admiration for Japanese women: “Although I’ve never dated Japanese girls, I often hear that their skin is better than that of Chinese. It’s also well known that sex with Japanese girls is better.” Another Chinese guy in his 30s says, “I feel superior when having sex with Japanese women because their country invaded China in the past. This is a kind of payback.”

“Yamada,” who brokered the Japanese porn star for Mr Lee, says: “I introduced two porn stars to him, suggesting 300,000 yen per girl. I was planning to send the girls to him while he was in Tokyo on business. But he suddenly canceled his trip. Then I took the girls to China upon his request. He promised he would pay for everything, including flight tickets and hotels.” He describes Mr Lee as a guy in his 40s, who likes to wear polo shirts and jeans, and sports a gold watch. Mr Lee paid for everything as he promised.

Author Ayumi Sakai, who used to run a porn agency, says demand from China comes at a time when profits are declining in the Japanese porn industry. “These days, many girls turn to porn partly because of the widening gap in income among people. While the competition among porn stars is becoming tougher, their salaries are decreasing. Unknown porn stars are paid only 50,000 yen per video and famous ones at most 500,000 yen. That’s why some porn stars and agents are fascinated about business opportunities abroad.”

Asked if his business could be considered human trafficking, Yamada says: “I’m not trafficking women. I just introduce famous porn stars to those who wish to make movies with them. I work worldwide. I know some of our clients only want the girls for sex, but that’s not my business.”

I will very likely be spending more time in the Philippines (Bohol and Cebu) this year, God willing. My three kids will in fact be schooling in Tagbilaran from June to catch up on their English and immerse themselves in their Pinoy and Boholano roots... I am also exploring new career horizons in the Philippines using my overseas network and contacts. Definitely, not brokering 'appetizers' to Japanese, Chinese or Korean tourists.
