A gunman has shot two students at a US university campus, leaving one woman with life-threatening injuries.
A male and a female student were shot in the attack, which happened at Delaware State University.
The male student is in a stable condition in hospital, while the female suffered serious injuries "which could be considered life-threatening", a university spokesman said. The gunman remains on the run.
A "lock down" is in operation at the university campus in Dover, Delaware, with all students having been ordered to stay in their rooms in residential blocks and not answer the door to anyone.
"At approximately 12.54am (1754 BST) on Friday September 21, the Delaware State University police department was notified of an incident in which two students were shot on campus near Memorial Hall," a statement on the university's website said.
"A single male suspect is being sought, but has not yet been apprehended. The investigation is continuing with the assistance of other local police. "
Sky News reported a spokesman for the university as saying that the circumstances of the shooting were unclear.
"Two of the primary people in this are the victims, and we haven't had a chance to speak to them yet," the spokesman said.
"That's a big reason why the gunman is still on the run. Police are working on leads right now and we hope to have a break in the case very soon."
