The Fall of a Famous Governor

Former New York governor Eliot Spitzer resigned last week following his indictment in a commercial sex scandal.

Spitzer was involved in a case of soliciting for sex with a commercial sex hawker in a Washington DC hotel. In most American states sex hawking is a crime and those who aid and abet the practice are liable to jail sentence on conviction.

The evidence against Spitzer was so overwhelming that the one-time Attorney-general of New York didn't wait to be forced to resign from his exalted office. The deputy governor, Mr. David Paterson has since been sworn in as New York's governor.

The new governor, Mr. David Paterson is also legally blind and African American. This makes him the first legally blind and African Governor to sit as governor of the State of New York.

He proudly told his fellow state senators, "I am the Governor of New York City."

Addendum:

The former Governor Spitzer is an example of a hypocrit. During the commotion of then-President William Clinton in 1998 for his alleged sexual relations with White House intern Monika Lewinsky, Spitzer and other die hard republicans were the ones that first denounced Clinton's actions as defamatory, immoral, and unethical. He was one of the first Republican politicians that demanded the resignation of the president.

And here it is, exactly 10 years from that day, he is the one caught acting on such 'defamatory, unethical, immoral' crimes. Hypocrisy.

David Paterson also had his indiscretions.  The day after the inauguration, he acknowledged having had an extramarital affairs, one with a state employee and one with a Olympic medalist.  I hope with the new position he has now, that can keep him busy and he should learn from the mistakes of Spitzer.  The trouble with Spitzer though was he was so righteous about prostitutions, for one, and he himself is doing it.  He just ruined his career that he worked for a long time and where he was exemplary with just one young lady for hire.  tsk tsk tsk

Yes Dong, the word is hypocrisy.  I just couldn't believe he could do that to himself and more so to his family.

Thats the thing I admire about Governor Paterson, he recognizes his own faults and admitted it to the people of New York. The senate stood up with standing ovation for his admission, nonetheless.

As for Spitzer, he was so callous. He gave out over 80 thousand dollars to that young woman in a span of several months for sex and performance. The only reason why the FEDs found out was that he paid her not through his own bank, but through a campaign fund. The FBI and the IRS found out that there was such a large sum being withdrawn, did a clearance check and linked it back to this woman. They investigated and found out everything after that.

Spitzer should have known better, being a politician, he should have known that the public eye is always around. Its a shame because he did do alot of good things for the state of New York, and was a firm fiscal conservative. Its quite ironic that his views on fiscal conservancy towards illegal immigrants, ceasing tax increases, etc, but was quite 'liberal' in giving out money and funds given to him by the people, for petty things such as sex and lap dance.
