PGMA orders investigation on alleged SEA Games rigging
MANILA (1 December 2005) -- "I am concerned over the remarks of an ally and good friend, Prime Minister Thaksin."
Thus said President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as she directed the officials of the Southeast Asian Games to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the alleged rigging and submit an official report within 24 hours.
The President made the move after Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra issued remarks that the on-going 23rd SEA games were rigged in favor of the host-country.
"It is everyone's duty to be just and fair without bias towards any country or team," Mrs. Arroyo stressed.
Hence, she called on all Southeast Asian country-members for sobriety and prudence in order to treasure the solidarity and friendship among the competitors and their respective nations - as tribute to the Southeast Asian neighborhood. (PIA-MMIO)
