Remains of Pinay and Baby Slained in Japan Arriving Home
« on: March 29, 2008, 03:22:59 AM »
The remains of a Filipina and her seven-month-old son who were killed by her Japanese husband in Tokyo last week are scheduled to arrive in Manila on Sunday.

Vice President Noli de Castro, who is also the Presidential Adviser on overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), said yesterday that Consul General Sulpicio Confiado of the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo reported that the bodies of Crisanta Mahusay Lopez-Nagano and her son Naomasa will arrive at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport at around 1:30 p.m.

De Castro said the remains of the victims will be brought to Tokyo Sosai Funeral Parlor today. The bodies will be brought to Narita Airport tomorrow and will be flown by Philippine Airlines to Manila.

The bodies will be brought to the Filipina’s hometown in Roxas City on Monday.

De Castro sought the assistance of PAL for the repatriation of the mother and son’s remains.

In response to De Castro’s request, PAL president Jaime Bautista, in his letter received by the Vice President’s office yesterday, said that PAL approved the free transport of the remains of the victims from Japan to Manila then to Roxas City.

Danilo Lim, PAL country manager in Japan, is coordinating with Confiado for the transport of the bodies.

Michael Lopez, the Filipina’s brother, asked De Castro on Monday for assistance for the repatriation of his sister and nephew’s bodies since they did not want the remains to be cremated in Tokyo.

Foreign Affairs spokesman Claro Cristobal said Confiado reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) the results of the autopsy on Crisanta and her son Naomasa.

“Autopsy results, as well as other forensic evidence gathered at the family residence in Tokyo where the killings took place, have established that the Filipina, Crisanta Mahusay Lopez-Nagano, died from severe bleeding from knife wounds, and her seven-month-old son, Naomasa, from strangulation in the morning of March 17 as confessed by husband, Masayoshi Nagano,” Cristobal said, quoting Confiado’s report.

The report said the incident happened on March 17 in Higashi Kurume City, Tokyo.

The victim’s family asked the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo not to allow the cremation of their remains.

“The embassy requested a stay of cremation of the remains, as per wishes of the victim’s family,” Cristobal said.

The 43-year-old Japanese suspect surrendered to police last Thursday morning.

“He confessed that he killed his wife and child because he was worried about an outstanding loan and that he intended but he could not kill himself also,” Cristobal said.

Cowardly bastar@

He killed his wife and son because of an outstanding loan?
Masayoshi Nagano, the worth of life SUPERSEDES money, any day, all the time.

You killed your own wife and son, you heartless, spineless, worm.

God Have Mercy on your soul

Japan is the no. 2 wealthiest nation in the world.
Philippines is at the bottom in the wealth ranking.

BUT we, Pinoys, don't have this suicidal, brutal mentality. We smile and laugh at our poverty and misfortunes.

Very true, Mike.

One thing I notice jud is the Filipino's religious nature. It is our sustenance, even in times of plight and need.  Our christian faith, is what makes us different, never to give up or commit suicide, but to make the best of life.

I am so sorry that Ms. Crisanta Mahusay Lopez and baby Naomasa were deprived of the gift of life.

May the Lord and His Mercies soothe their souls, and bring them to eternal contentness in His presence. Where there is no pain, no anguish, no regret, no memory of the past life. In total bliss with the Lord. Home, again.

My condolences to their family.

Are you serious? Hanging one's self for a debt of $15k..

Life is too precious to be given away for such an amount. There is no price on life,

That is the thing I find very negative about Japanese culture. Their uber fatalistic tendencies, instead of persisting, they give up. For the sake of this so called 'honor'. Honor is nothing but a human social construct. It means nothing. Nothing.

My reaction: Of course they don't value life kai ing ana man jud na ilang culture. It still brings me to tears when I recollect the stories my Lolo Ciano told me about what the Japanese soldiers did to the people of Valencia. They took people they 'suspected' to be spies or guerilla, took them to the edges of Badjang and shot all of them. The bodies were thrown into the ditch, where the waters claimed the bodies, never to be seen or buried. They would throw Filipino babies of suspected guerillas into the air and catch them with their bayonnets. They did this for a sport.

And dili ra ni a case in the Philippines. They did much worse in Korea, and China. They used Korean women as sex slaves, and in China, where they killed over 2 million citizens (200,000 alone in the siege of Nanking). They decapitated Chinese citizens after the city was taken, and even to this day, the Japanese still refuse to recognize it. They still claim they were the victims of the 'Pacific War'. If they were the victims, they would HAVE NEVER invaded the Philippines. Now would they?

They sacrificed their own soldiers in their bansai charges as if life was that easy to dispose of. They threw their lives as if it were nothing, as if it is something so easy to give. If they can be so malicious to their own people, imagine what they viewed us Filipinos as. Slaves and below human probably.

My sympathies to any of our Pinoys and Pinays that are treated like this or abused over there in Japan.

@ Kiams, please post the full story. Salamat.

Japanese pa, son kill selves in hotel
By Rene H. Martel

TWO Japanese nationals, a father and son, were found dead inside a room in Cebu City Marriott Hotel yesterday afternoon. They had an orange nylon rope tied around their necks with the other end fastened to the louvre of the closet.

Akihiro Owa, 77, and son Masaaki, 41, both of Nagano, Japan, had been staying in the hotel since June 7.

Based on a letter from the hotel management, they had an unsettled bill of P593,397.70 as of noon of Aug. 21.

The letter, dated Aug. 21, was signed by Danny Luzada, the hotel’s director of finance. It confirmed the receipt of the two Citibank checks with a total amount of P600,000 as a guarantee of their outstanding balance.

It took homicide investigators SPO2 Alex Dacua and PO3 Dennis Moga six hours to finish their ocular investigation inside room 1016, a double room where the two were found.

Moga said they checked the bags and other belongings of the two hoping to find a suicide note, but there was none.

Homicide Chief Arestides Macatangay said that initially, their investigation led to suicide but they will check all other angles.

“The father was kneeling on the chair while his son’s legs were folded so he would not touch the floor. They could have saved themselves had they wanted to because they could have just stood up. The room was closed and there was no sign of struggle,” Macatangay said.

Except for abrasions on their neck, the two had no other significant injury to indicate foul play, an autopsy showed.

PNP Medico Legal Officer Nestor Satur, who made the autopsy, said asphyxia by hanging killed the two.

No solid food was found in their intestines, indicating the two had not taken food for some hours.
The two were both wearing long pants and socks. The father was in a T-shirt while the son was in a polo shirt.

They had wrapped their neck with a face towel before they tied their neck with a seven-foot rope.

SPO2 Dacua said police have yet to establish what pushed the two to take their own life but are considering the victims’ liability to the hotel as the possible cause.

“Please be reminded that we have given you adequate consideration to delay the deposit of the first check dated Aug. 20, 2002 worth P400,000 by one more day. However, in the interest of the hotel, we are firm on our stand to deposit both checks tomorrow Aug. 22, 2002,” hotel’s letter stated.

Aside from the demand letter, Dacua and Moga found a receipt dated Aug. 25 for a P26 worth of rope bought from True Value, a hardware at Ayala Center Cebu.

Front desk manager Jun Justo, in a press briefing with general manager Christianna Wasfy, said he still saw the two Japanese at the lobby between 10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. yesterday.

At past noon, he called their room to check if they wanted to have their room cleaned.

Despite several calls, nobody answered so he went upstairs and found a “Do not disturb” sign outside the door.

He kept on knocking but still nobody answered. He went down again and sought assistance from the engineering and the security office.

They went back to the room, knocked again and since there was still no response, Justo opened the door using a master key.

However, the door was “double locked or chained locked” from the inside so they were forced to cut the chain. When Justo got inside, he saw the two who “seemed lifeless.”

Both Justo and the investigators said there was no sign of struggle inside the room.

Justo went out of the room and called the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation (Eruf).

When the police arrived at past 2 p.m., the two were not stiff yet which means they died just a few hours ago.

Satur, who made the autopsy at 8:30 p.m., said the victims could have been dead for 10 hours.

Wasfy described the two Japanese as “nice and quiet guests.”

But she said they do not have any idea as to the business of the two as it is not the hotel’s practice to check the background of their guests.

Aside from the receipt, demand letter, hotel bills and a cellular phone, the police also found their passports and a passport of a 14-year-old boy as well as Akihiro’s international driver’s license.

His address in the license is 14-C Paseo Mellisa Estate Park, Banilad, Cebu City.

Their remains were taken to Cebu Rolling Hills. With AIV

The problem with Japan is that they do not have a concept of God in the Christian sense. The Filipino is alien to them because we, The Filipino, are more Western than our neighbours. We do not worship a buddha, hindu gods, ancestral worship, sea gods, penis gods, vagina gods, monkeys, cows, etc. Filipinos are closer to our European brothers in that our social etiquette such as the 'mano po' is of western origin ( Hispanic to be precise). The way we think is Spanish in a way, and putting our trust in 'Dios'. We live, we suffer our daily pains, carry our heavy crosses, but we never give up--because we follow Christ Jesus. Just as Christ Jesus did not give up on us. Our paternalistic society is a product of almost half a millenia of European colonization, namely Spanish. Our strong and rigid christian ideology is a testament to that colonization. We fear not only the pains of our present life, but by the judgement of the Almighty in the afterlife. Japanese culture has no solid religion, there is the presence of shinto (the indigenous Japanese ancestral worship, were everything can be gods "kami") to the mingling of buddhism and confucian culture. They do not have the concept of the 'afterlife' as we do. They live only on the 'here and now', which is typical for a confucian society.

They commit suicide because they want to get away form the troubles of life. They cannot take it. Also, prime for this is that they do not have the fear of Christian faith in that if one commits suicide, it is a mortal sin. As Life is the Ultimate gift from God. Japanese don't believe in God. Hence the lack of social restraint.

Additionally, I have friends who are Japanese study abroad students. We discussed this before and their view on it was that in Japan there is no fear of death. Death to them, is the clean sheet. The escape.
They also told me that it is very typical for anyone to commit suicide in Japan; there are even 'suicide' parties where a group of people get together to commit suicide. They jump of bridges, cliffs, buildings, jump in front of trains, overdose, etc.

It is sickening to think about it, but it is the truth.

It is one of the reasons I am grateful for the Spanish presence in the Philippines.
They gave us the christian faith, and with it, christian morality and not barbarity.
