I didn't think Aquino really wanted to be a president.  I just don't understand what are her motives.  Or maybe she just want Arroyo out.  I just wonder, who does she think is best to be the President?  I certainly hope she didn't think Erap is the man for the position!

I've always been a supporter of Arroyo. She's a strong willed woman and it is a leader like Arroyo that can make this republic work. This nation needs a serious leader, one who will not be afraid to use force when necessary. This country is regionalistic, with very biased points of views depending on provincial geography. In order to succeed in the helm of Presidency, a man or woman must be tough skinned to dish out all the insults of opposition, yet focused enough to keep eyes on the bigger picture. The prosperity and the stability of this republic.

Arroyo has brought unheard of economic prosperity to the Philippines since the days of early Marcosian years.

The Philippine economy is 'Hot', jobs are coming in, thousands of foreign employers are looking to the Philippines again as a competitive player in the world market. Our service sector is growing; Arroyo has done her share of catapulting the Philippines in the world stage and sold the image of our country as a worthy, aggressive, and educated people.

There is a saying ushered by Voltaire, a great European Enlightenment Thinker, that speaks for me, "Excessive revolution is unhealthy for a republic."

What do these men want?
For the President to step down?

And what then? More discourse, revolution, instability, rallies, military coups, instability in the south.

And what will happen to our surging economy?

It will turn cold. Speculations will arise, and confidence on our economy will fall again, the peso will depreciate again, foreign investors will pull back.

We must think about the realities of nation building and the BIGGER picture.
Over 90 million lives are at stake, and one must remember that for a change to manifest, years must pass. Change isn't immediate, but gradual.

I reiterate, I am an Arroyo loyalist.

The problem with some Filipinos here is that once they don't like the current president they start rallying on the streets, focusing on the one mistake the President did and that's what Lozada is doing. He is spreading his so-called truth thru rallies, school tours etc.

@mochajava they have plans on letting Lozada run for 2010 senate position.

I guess people made protest because they  could no longer bear their worsening suffering and poverty. It has become apparent to them that their intensifying hardships are a direct consequence of the Arroyo regime's corruption. The increasingly dismal economic conditions of the broad masses of the people could no longer be obscured by the regime's falsified statistics and media hype about economic progress. The people's growing misery and oppression are increasingly being linked to the regime's reeking corruption.

Doing protests at the middle of the road, causing traffics, and endless riots won't do any good. It scares away foreign investors and such. And it worsens the economy. Why not just re-organize and help each other? Don't they see it? This time, Arroyo is a good one. Yes. She is corrupt. But she is smart.
Do they really believe that FPJ could've been a better president? Another puppet.
See. Lozada. in fairness did a good job. But his actions now are causing doubts. Balik-balik lang ipanulti.. Take for ex: on his USC tour, he was bombarded with a lot of tough questions from students. And he was left speechless. Wala na cya'y natubag. Kay unlike sa Manila, close and one sided mga tao didto puro anti0-Arroyo so sayun ra kaayu tubagon Visayas is being fair paminawon ang both sides.
Cardinal Vidal didn't want Lozada to come, and start a rally in cebu or spread the truth sa misa., and it resulted to Lozada branding the cardinal as "Archdiocese of Malacanang". It's so..

Bem, I see your point as you draw the comparison between Clarissa Ocampo and Jun Lozano.  Clarissa's intention was merely to speak the truth and she did even if it caused her freedom.  I remember at that time when she had to be wheeled from  all over the place just to confuse the people "after" her so she couldn't talk.  She entered Linden Suite in her hideaway car, went down to the underground floor, took a lift in the elevator and stayed in one condo for few days before she was moved again out of the country through "back door".  She was crying because she was away from her family as they were also being hidden.  She sacrificed her life and family for the sake of speaking the truth.  It did pay off, I think because it helped jail Erap.  She was credible because she didn't have any political aspiration.

As to Lozano, at first he sounded credible but it's now apparent that he is entertaining the idea of becoming a political person in the next election.  And that is because why again?

Yes, there's a lot of suffering in our country and there's even more, more so if you have the likes of Erap or Lozano as presidents.  Our country has been financially raped by the previous regime, corruption got ingrained that had mangled the morals and values of our politicians.  And it also did to the people.  We became a party to the corruption.  Need I explain how we become party to this corruption scheme of our leaders?  It would take years before we can fix our government but we are not going anywhere until we resolve to be watchdog to our own country.  Until we stop be to used by these politicians.  Rallying doesn't help anymore because we expect that the next president will be rallied upon again. And the next one.  Who among the previous presidents after Marcos who was not threatened of ouster?  None.  Even Cory herself who was supposed to be spotless and was supposed to have carried the torch of democracy back in our country.  Rallying has lost its luster already. It affected the essence of the rally that catapulted Cory to power.  The People's Power.

Between GMA and Erap, I would go for GMA a million times.

Yes. Phil's situation getting worse. Lozada's idea of ousting GMA out is another people power. But not all of us directly suffers under GMA's regime that's why it's impossible.

Then again. How?

The problem with these individuals, these leftist forces, is that they have been ingrained in the idea that the Philippines is a statist nation. They believe that the collective masses believes that this country is in a constant quagmire and one that we cannot get out of. These leftist forces thrive on the idea of constant revolution, constant political discourse. Each rising party claims himself or herself as spotless and rings the bell of political legitimacy; however whenever that party takes power, they too become the subject of popular protest.

A cyclic system that is ultimately debilitating for the Philippines and depressing for the citizens and regional-intraregional trading partners.

Leftist forces don't care for the national good, they care for their own political careers, for their own welfare and the welfare of their support base. This is the problem, the recurring problem, of this country. Arroyo needs to make precedence and hold her ground, so that future administrations can learn from her. She is the President of this Republic, chosen by the people and elected by the people. Mobs and rallying groups DO NOT speak for the entire Filipino Citizenry. Unless there is a general uprising throughout the entire country or a massive people power as that of 86, then, I pray and hope she holds her ground.

This woman is brilliant and knows what she's doing.

And how about the issue of Fake witness and  more lies on her ADMINISTRATION. Arroyo has concocted various lies and slanders to damage the credibility of Rodolfo Noel "Jun" Lozada Jr. Among her maneuvers was the sudden appearance of Erwin Santos, a former employee of Lozada's at the Philippine Forest Corporation (Philforest). Amid tears, Santos accused Lozada of being responsible for anomalies at Philforest. Many people found Santos' testimony laughable, especially since it was Malacañang that obviously drew up his script. Santos was unable to hoodwink anyone, and was not even invited by the Senate to testify because of his incredible statements.

On February 12, agents of the National Bureau of Investigation raided Lozada's office at Philforest in Taguig City to dig up evidence and come up with a false story line from the seized papers.

Arroyo thought she could "shed light" on the NBN project by granting an interview over dzRH on February 23. But she ended up incriminating herself when she said that she approved the project even if she knew that the contract was "flawed." She allegedly found out about the "flaw" only on the eve of the contract signing and thus found it awkward to cancel the project outright. The next day, the regime realized that Arroyo's admission over the radio was a faux pas and has since been trying hard to deny that she ever made the statement.

So how can we suppress the peoples reaction regarding on this issue??
