Philippine Typhoon Igme Goes to Taiwan
« on: August 22, 2012, 12:53:33 PM »
Typhoon "Igme" (Tembin) continues to weaken as it moves at 320 km northeast of Basco, Batanes, with maximum sustained winds of 140 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 170 kph on Wednesday.

The Batanes group of islands remain under public storm signal no.1.

Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) Forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said "Igme" is expected to be out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday afternoon or Friday morning towards Taiwan.

He said the Batanes Group of Islands is expected to experience winds of 30 to 60 kph within the next 36 hours.

PAGASA said moderate to heavy rains of 10 to 25 millimeters per hour are expected to fall within Igme’s 550-km diameter, while the rest of Luzon particularly its western section, including Metro Manila, will likely experience “light to moderate rains” as the typhoon enhances the southwest monsoon.

Typhoon "Igme" is forecast to be 330 km north northeast of Basco, Batanes by Thursday morning, and 400 km north northwest of the Basco, Batanes by Friday morning.

Meanwhile. Aurelio said another typhoon with international name "Bolaven", is expected to enter the PAR on Thursday evening or Friday morning but will not merge with typhoon Igme while it is still in the country.

"Bolaven" was moving closer and was located at 1,600 km east of extreme Northern Luzon (19.1°N 139.5°E).

Aurelio added that once Bolaven is inside the PAR, it will be locally named as "Julian," the 10th tropical cyclone to enter the country this year.

He said chances of a “Fujiwhara effect” or in layman’s term “dumbbell effect” which means the interaction between the two cyclones, occurring inside the Philippine territory “are slim since their distances are too far from each other to interact.”

The Fujiwhara effect is characterized by two cyclones orbiting each other.

“Sa ngayon maliit ang tsansa magsama yung dalawang bagyo but still monitoring. Dahil pagpasok ni Bolaven ito naman ang paglabas ng bansa ni Igme. Kaya dumbbell ang tinawag natin pagbinuhat pataas ang dumbbell na may dalawang bakal sa tagiliran parehas ang galaw nito ganun din itong Fujiwhara effect sabay sila sa pagkilos,” Aurelio explained.

Aurelio said that Bolaven or Julian is moving towards Luzon its path goes towards Japan.

In its advisory, PAGASA said Batanes will be rainy with gusty winds and rough to very rough coastal waters.

The rest of northern Luzon, western areas of central and southern Luzon, and Panay will be mostly cloudy with scattered rain and thunderstorms.

The rest of the country, meanwhile, will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain or thunderstorms.

Metro Manila, Legazpi, Puerto Princesa, Cebu, Tacloban, Cagayan de Oro, Davao and Zamboanga will experience partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies. These areas will also have isolated rain and thunderstorms throughout the day.

Meanwhile, Tuguegarao, Laoag, Baguio, Olongapo, Angeles, Tagaytay, Iloilo, and Bacolod will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain and thunderstorms.

Winds will come from the northwest to west over northern Luzon, while the rest of the country will experience winds from the southwest.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
