New Yorker Launches Barking Mad LawsuitNEW YORK (AFP) - A Manhattan lawyer is suing for half a million dollars because she can't stand the constant yapping of two Chihuahuas from a nearby apartment, press reports said Friday.
The lawyer said the "whining, barking, yapping and squealing" from the floor below is ruining her health, the Daily News and New York Post reported.
The plaintiff, 62-year-old Paulette Taylor, says in the 500,000 dollar lawsuit against her neighbor and the apartment building that the pets "bark in a manner that is offensive, constant, continuous and incessant."
This wasn't the only big-dollar news this week in New York's famously eccentric pet world.
On Wednesday, a judge ruled that the multi-billion-dollar estate of the late property tycoon Leona Helmsley can be distributed to more than just dogs.
Before dying in 2007 Helmsley left 12 million dollars to her dog Trouble and said her fortune should go to charities helping dogs.
The judge ruled that non-canine charities are also eligible.
