Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari has left for the United States to attend the UN General Assembly session where he will also raise the issue of anti-Islam movie, officials said Saturday.

The president is scheduled to arrive in New York on Sunday to lead the Pakistan delegation to the 67th session General Assembly.

The president will address the 193-member Assembly on Tuesday when the high-level debate begins. Some 120 world leaders are expected to participate.

During his four-day stay, President Zardari will hold meetings with world leaders on the sidelines of the session, officials said. He will meet among others, with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, British Prime Minister David Cameron, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi and NATO Secretary-General, Anders Fogh Rasmussen.

The president will also speak at a high-level event on polio eradication, sponsored by the United Nations and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The topic for the session, which will be presided over by Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, is: Our Commitment to the Next Generation.

Earlier this year, the secretary-general set out an action agenda that identified five generational imperatives: sustainable development, prevention, a more secure world, helping countries in transition and empowering women and youth.

Officials say that the president will raise in his UN address the issue of anti-Islam movie made in the United States, which has sparked widespread protests across the Muslim world.

Governor Punjab province, Sardar Latif Khan Khosa, said on Saturday that President Asif Ali Zardari would raise Pakisatn's concern over the profane film at the United Nations.

Addressing a press conference, he said Pakistan was the only Islamic state that has observed a protest day against the blasphemous film on official level.
