Premier Jean Charest has announced that Quebec schools
will eliminate soft drinks and fatty foods starting next January.Charest told a news conference in Montreal today it won't cost more to offer better food at a reasonable price.
The premier says he also wants schools to attack what he calls an obesity problem.
He says not only do schools have to offer healthy food and exercise but parents need information to make the right choices for their children.
Charest announced his Liberal government will add $11 million to an existing $5-million program to allow schools to develop programs for exercise and healthy food choices.
