National cooperative day draws participation of ASEAN nations' cooperatives - Hamzah
KUALA LUMPUR - Cooperatives from several ASEAN nations such as Indonesia, Thailand and Brunei have confirmed their participation in the National Cooperative Day 2015 celebrations next month.
Minister of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism, Datuk Hamzah Zainuddin said four cooperatives from Indonesia, two from Brunei and two companies from Thailand would be involved in the exhibition as well as signing of memorandums of understanding (MoU).
He said this proved that the ASEAN community could be united as one.
"In fact, it is better if all cooperatives played a role in working together, cooperating between the cooperatives, and people with people throughout all ASEAN nations," he said in a press conference held after a gathering with members of the Malaysian Cooperatives Commission (SKM) here today.
Commenting on the National Cooperative Day celebrations from Aug 14 to 16, he said the cooperatives sector played an important role in the nation.
The programme is scheduled to be officiated at the Kuching Waterfront, Sarawak, on Aug 15. (PNA/BERNAMA)
