Dear Mike and fellow TB members,
Mike, Thanks for posting this in Tubag Bohol.
I know that most of us are often suspicious or doubtful in joining an association organized by Filipinos because of our bad experiences and because most of us ..(sorry to say this) still have a crab mentality. Di sab malikayan ang pagselos.
Di nani ikatingala natong mga Filipino because most of us were born and lived in a corrupt society with corrupt political leaders.
When I was born, Marcos was already the president and I have not seen all my life in the Philippines an honest and clean election.
So when I moved to Sweden I felt (in comparison to Philippines) that this place must be a heaven on Earth.
As I earlier wrote, Nalooy ko kaayo naghunahuna as atong kabataan (our future) when I see how priviliged the Swedish children are. I know there are many brilliant filipino children whose talents gone wasted because their parents can not afford to send them to school.
Hoping to find a away to help.. I decided to get in touch with other Filipinos here in Sweden. I created a forum called " Sweden -Philippines".
Take note nga kaming tanan wala pay nagkakita sa personal bisan usa.
However we have monthly cyber meeting and we keep in touch thru e-mail and sometimes phone. With Internet, distance is no longer a problem.
We recruit our members, donors and sponsors thru the web and thru our friends.
No, although she is from valencia, the town where I came from.. she is NOT my cousin and her father did not even say "thank you" to me when I met him in the public market in valencia last June.
Wa pod ko kaila ani bataa kay morag wa pani ipanganak as akong pag abroad. And her parents are originally from Mindanao NOT a native Bol-anon. But her school records and result of exams sa HNU made her deserving for this scholarship.
"This girl is very talented" (according to her highschool teachers ) and although we want to help all those who applied for the scholarship we could only afford to help one this year.
Next year we hope our funds is enough to support another scholar in Cebu.
So Tubag Bohol...
..."We are therefore taking this opportunity to introduce FGCA and enjoin everyone in our cause in giving the poor but talented students in the Philippines, the chance to realize their dreams, providing support for their education and ensuring their good future. The time therefore to act is now! Share your blessings! Let us show all together to the world what a Filipino can."
