Elections in the USA is over, welcome Obama!
Savor the victory and we gíve the benefits of doubt. All politicians promise one thing and deliver, if at all, another.
TB ang akong pangutana;
What do you remember most about George Bush?

Slacky,

They need each other, now the new president has another orientation so we will try to see Obama´s step if he is a bootlicker like Bush.

Though I have reservations on President George Bush Jr, I will always respect him for his response to the 911 disaster.

He was able to rally the American people and to put the offense on Al Qaeda.

One thing is clear though, during his administration, he has protected the American Mainland from further terrorist attacks and has increased the security initiatives in the US.

He has, by his policies, will continue to shape American Foreign Policy in the future.
By this, he has increased the size of the military and increased the military defense budget. And our presence in the world will affect this upcoming administration and further administrations for years to come.

History shall be the judge.

Realistically speaking, even if President-Elect Obama wants to implement new domestic changes, that is one one story. However, he must not undermine the American presence in our overseas bases, in fact he must continue and uphold our territories and operations abroad in order to uphold and protect the massive American interests and investments abroad.

His proposal to remove American troops from Iraq and reinforce American bases is good, actually. He will put pressure in Afghanistan and smite the remaining Al Qaeda bases in that region.

American Military Presence will not decrease, in fact, it will only increase.
How So?

Because the United States is currently building 2 more Nuclear super aircraft carriers.
The Obama Administration will inherit a very much-enlarged and potent American Military. I assure you that the American muscle will be flexed yet again in his administration. One way or another.

Bush reacted instictinctively after  Sept 11, but in the long run the political and military measures was almost paranoid.  It was unstoppable especially the sending of more troops to a foreign land.
It is an undeniable fact that the US  Marines/ armies, soldiers  who were sent there were mostly traumatized when they returned. I don´t think they would voluntarily return to their posts/assignments if asked again.
There are lots of casualties, victims (locals), families who suffered, is it worth dying for?
The effort is almost a Sissyphus task.  I hope Obama has better options.

Ma'am,

We Americans will oudoubtedly say and agree that our honorable and brave soldiers have sacrificed their lives for the protection of our Precious Land. Wherever the American Flag is in need, abroad or domestic, they will be there within a few hours, by shear might and size of our Armed Forces.

We have lost over 4,000 soldiers in Iraq, as a consequence to the viotile setting in Iraq; and the surge of terrorists into the porous borders of Iraq in the months after post 2003 Iraq.

The goal is to stabilize Iraq and retrain their military, under American premise. And that has already been accomplished. The United States has retrained over 400,000 Iraqi troops and more and more Iraqi Military Units have taken over areas that were once heavily guarded and administered by the American Forces.

No doubt, many of our sons and daughters have died in defense of the American Cause. And their deaths WILL NEVER be in vain. Though it may have been inoportune for us to have invaded Iraq, we cannot turn back time and ask for the lives of 4,000 of our troops to come back to their lifeless bodies. Nor can well ask for the thousands of innocent Iraqis that were killed in the crossfire to be given back.

The most important thing is that Iraq is being stabilized, and with an American-trained military and American backing, their government will be able to take the reigns after the United States removes a considerable amount of its forces from Iraq.

Though I can assure you that the United States will probably leave a division or so of its troops in Iraq. For strategic as well as political reasons. The rest of troops will be redistributed throughout the world and to strengthen the American Mainland Reserves.

Obama will have more diplomatic options available. But he has said this time and time again that he will not be hesitant to use military force if diplomacy fails. In the end, Obama is a die-hard American. And by that right, American Interest is Primacy.

Yours,

bush is one of the most unpopular president in the US.. a lameduck president..

but, a few years from now, even his mistakes in invading iraq may prove to be his most enduring legacy.. that is, for preaching democracy in the Middle East.. darating din yan.. and the Middle East will have Bush to thank for..

by the way, it seemed to me like Dubya aged remarkably fast,,, sa kadaghan siguro sa problema,,, pero diri sa pinas, si gloria nagkabata,,, ingun sya its in her genes daw,,, genes??? sa pagpafacial na oi... daghan na gud sya kwarta, daghan pangpafacial... logic...

Bush is the Cowboy President with his Cowboy foreign policies.

His unilateralist policies concerning the United State's Military is his greatest testament. Either one translates that as negative or positive.

The man was a war hawk.
