For those that do not know what Melamine is, Melamine resin, a mix of melamine and formaldehyde is used and found in kitchenware, coloring dyes, as well as preservatives.
How is it that melamine resin is found in kitchen eggs and milk products from China? The answer to this is because the Chinese agricultural industry has added melamine to the feed to their poultry, and chickenry.
The reasons for them to do this is because melamine is rich in nitrogen, and relatively cheap. Adding it to sub-standard animal feed or watered-down milk makes their protein levels appear higher.
Unfortunately for the world market, the Chinese poultry industry, like many Chinese industries have little to no checking systems; that or the company is able to bribe health inspectors, as is a major problem concerning the People's Republic of China. Corruption in China is a gigantic problem, which dwarfs the corruption within the Philippines and other ASEAN member states.
The chinese mentality concerning melamine resin volume is that the more melamine fed to chicken, the whiter the eggs, the more protein the milk derivatives of cows, etc etc.
There is no 3 tiered health system and checks and balance in China as found in modernized and scrutinized nations such as The United States and other Western Countries.
This is the penalty we all pay for aquiescing to cheap Chinese products.
Cheapness does not necessarily translate to healthy or above-par.
Faithfully Yours,
Bran Lorenzo
